Ingredients
  • 3 to 4 pounds beef chuck short ribs
  • 2½ cups Cabernet Sauvignon (red wine)
  • 1 cup Swanson Beef Broth - gluten free
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Hunts Tomato Paste - gluten free
  • 1½ tablespoons Orgran Gluten Free All Purpose Flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1½ teaspoon salt, divided
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 shallots, minced
Instructions
  1. Season the ribs with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a skillet over high heat. Brown the ribs on both sides about 3 to 4 minutes each side.
  2. After the ribs are browned, arrange them at the bottom of the slow cooker. Cool the same pan briefly then heat over medium heat and sauté the shallots until translucent. Add the tomato paste. Add the wine and beef broth and stir. Add the sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon black pepper, and the flour. Stir nicely, then bring it to a boil.
  3. Pour the sauce over ribs and season with the remaining salt and pepper. Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours.
  4. Serve
Notes
Optional:
The last 15 minutes, you can also put the meat on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees F. with the sauce on top and caramelized it.
