Gluten Free Grilled Fish Salad with Fruit Salsa

Ingredients
  • 1 pound halibut or snapper fillets
  • 3 cups washed and torn romaine lettuce
  • 1 small red onion, halved, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 to 2 teaspoon grated lemon peel
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • *Fruit Salsa
  • 1 small ripe papaya, peeled, seeded, and diced
  • 1 firm banana, diced
  • 2 green onions, minced
  • 3 tablespoon fresh chopped cilantro
  • ½ of a lime, juiced
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded, minced
  • salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. Preheat grill, or if you have a cast iron pan; oil a little bit to prevent fish from sticking
  2. Combine lemon juice, chili powder, allspice, olive oil, garlic, lemon peel, cloves and a little bit of salt and pepper.
  3. Cut fish into small pieces, bite sizes
  4. Rub fish with spice mixture.
  5. Grill fish until fish is opaque in the middle, turn occasionally.
  6. Remove from heat. Remove bones if necessary.
  7. Combine all fruit salsa ingredients in a medium bowl, season with salt and pepper.
  8. Serve fish with salsa, red onions and lettuce.
