Gluten Free Tangerine Beef with Scallions

Ingredients
  • 1½ to 2 pounds beef tri-tip steak
  • ½ cup Tamari Soy Sauce -gluten free
  • 2 inch peeled fresh ginger, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tangerine, zest and juiced
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 8 scallions, sliced and divided
  • ½ teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons orange marmalade
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
Instructions
  1. Jab the meat with fork several times on both sides. Place the in a large resealable bag, add the zest, half of the scallions, ginger, garlic, sugar, soy sauce, pepper flakes, tangerine juice, and sesame oil. Refrigerate overnight for better result.
  2. Preheat a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Add oil and shake off some of the marinade ingredients, (reserve the marinade sauce) sear the steaks on both sides about 3 to 4 minutes or longer if you like well done.
  3. In a small saucepan, boil the sauce for 3 to 5 minutes. Add the marmalade and stir. Cook for another minute.
  4. Slice the meat against the grain and garnish with the remaining scallions. Serve with the sauce.
